Patricia A. ‘Patty’ (Burke) McCart, age 72, a lifelong resident of Worcester, died peacefully Thursday, July 18, 2013 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Her beloved husband of 36 years, William J. McCart passed away October 15, 1998.
Patricia is survived by her daughter, Margaret Gray and her husband Glenn of Oakham and her two sons, William J. McCart, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Charlton and Michael P. McCart and his wife Lynda of Worcester; four grandchildren, Courtney L. Gray of Worcester, William J. McCart III of Southbridge; Jacob W. and Kelsea H. McCart of Charlton; three great granddaughters; and a brother, William J. Burke and his wife Linda of Worcester. She also leaves behind sisters-in-law Susan Miller and Marie Donahue and her husband James all of Worcester and Janice Handlin of Oxford, and several nieces and nephews.
Patricia was born in Worcester, daughter of William and Isabel (Carelli) Burke. She was a graduate of St. Peter’s High School.
Patty was an accomplished singer, performing locally from the time she was in high school. Her beautiful voice touched many people but her husband Bill was her biggest fan and her grandchildren were her preferred audience. She worked for many years at the Auburn Ten Pin before retiring to care for her mother Isabel.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Church, the Worcester Dart League and an avid Red Sox Fan. She would discuss and analyze the successes and failures of the Boston Red Sox at length with her brother Bill.
The family would like to express sincere thanks and appreciation to Rick Stein and the staff at Worcester Homecare for all of the support and love that they provided in her final days.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Patricia touched are invited to MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 21st. Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 22nd at 11:00 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, 931 Main Street, Worcester.
