Subscription Update Obituary

     Norman G. Groleau, 82, died on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, in The Meadows Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Leicester, after an illness.
     His wife of 54 years, Lucille A. (LaPan) Groleau, died in 2005. He leaves four children: Donna M. Groleau of Norfolk VA, Annmarie Schmersal of Winter Park FL, Kathleen G. Stevens and her husband, David, of Southbridge, and Lisa J. Groleau also of Southbridge; six grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his parents, Edmon and Alice (Lambert) Groleau; four children: Michelle, Robin and Joseph Groleau, all of Millbury, and Michael Groleau of Worcester; and two brothers: Edmon Groleau, Jr. of Medway, and Robert Groleau of Jacksonville, FL.
     Born in Worcester on August 20, 1930, he was raised there and then lived for 10 years in Millbury before returning to Worcester in 1964. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving aboard the submarine tender U.S.S. H.W. GILMORE (AS 16), and was honorably discharged in 1954.
     Mr. Groleau worked as a machine operator for 40 years at the Felters Company, Millbury, where he served as president of the Textile Workers Union local for over 20 years.
     He was a member of Sacred Heart-St. Catherine of Sweden Catholic Parish, Worcester, and he volunteered for many years at Sally’s Boutique operated by the Worcester Salvation Army.
     His Funeral Mass will be offered at 9:00 A.M. on Saturday, March 16, in Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 600 Cambridge St., Worcester. His earthly remains will then be buried in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. There are no calling hours. Turgeon Funeral Home, 56 Main St., Millbury, has charge of the arrangements.
