Subscription Update Obituary

     Norma J. (Fagan) Dufault, 83, of Shrewsbury passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 24th surrounded by her loving family. Norma’s husband of forty-four years, Claude B. Dufault passed away on February 3, 1998. She is survived by her daughter, Diane M. Dufault of New York and Boston, and two sons, Dr. Paul F. Dufault and his wife, MaryAnne of Shrewsbury and Ronald G. Dufault and his wife, Ana of Holden. She was blessed with six grandchildren who she loved dearly, Paul, Jennifer, Christopher, Briana, Kevin and Danielle Dufault. Norma is also survived by her brother-in-law Dr. Francis Dufault and his wife, Loraine of Worcester, sisters-in-law, Lucille Dufault of Holden, Christine Dufault of Evian-les-Bains, France and Margaret Fagan of West Hatfield and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and James Fagan, and two brothers-in-law John and Charles Dufault.

     Norma was born in Northampton, the daughter of George and Lena (Arel) Fagan, and graduated from the former St. Michael’s High School. She attended Northampton Commercial College and worked in the University of Massachusetts Athletic Department. After marrying she raised her family in Worcester and later worked for many years at her husband’s business, Newtel Associates, Inc. Norma was an avid reader, and took an active interest in learning new skills. She was a Certified Braille Translator, and was accomplished at needlepoint, sewing, and knitting. Norma was an excellent bridge player and enjoyed playing weekly at the Shrewsbury Senior Center. She was a member of St. Mary’s Parish and volunteered at its Prayer Shawl Ministry. She loved the holidays and cherished the time she spent with her family, especially her six wonderful grandchildren. Norma will be remembered as a vibrant, beautiful woman who lived life to the fullest and will be missed by all who knew her. Her family also wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Edward Driscoll and his staff for many years of wonderful care.

     Her funeral will be held on Monday, January 28th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass celebrating her life at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Sunday, January 27th from 3:00 until 6:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
