Subscription Update Obituary

     Joseph T. Bruneau, 70, of High Ridge Rd., died peacefully on Sunday, June 16, 2013 at UMass Memorial Healthcare, University Campus. Born and raised in Worcester, Mr. Bruneau was the son of George T. and Emily (Mysliewiec) Bruneau, and lived over 40 years in Holden.

     He leaves his former wife, Lillian (Kasavich) Bruneau ; three daughters, Susan Bruneau, Bonnie Bruneau, and Theresa Gachuna; a granddaughter, Ivy Lynn; two sisters, Joanne May and Patricia Kovaleski; nephews and nieces.

     Mr. Bruneau graduated from Worcester Boy’s Trade High School where he studied auto mechanics. He earned an Associate’s degree from Quinsigamond Community College, a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Worcester State College, and a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from Anna Maria College. Mr. Bruneau served four years in the United States Air Force as a jet aircraft mechanic. While stationed in Japan, he took extensive classes in Shotokan style karate and earned a first degree black belt.

     He started his law enforcement career with the Massachusetts State Police in 1968, and retired in 2000 as a Lieutenant in Holden after 32 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, model airplanes, and swimming. He was an avid storyteller and made a lasting impression on all who knew him.

     Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden, and again at the funeral home on Wednesday morning at 9:45 a.m. followed by a procession to St. Mary’s Church, 114 Princeton St., Jefferson where a Mass of Christian Burial will celebrated at 11 a.m. Internment with military honors will follow at Worcester County Memorial Park in Paxton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mr. Bruneau’s name to Elder Services of Worcester Area, Inc. (Meals-on-Wheels Program), 67 Millbrook St., Worcester, MA 01606 or the Massachusetts Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA), 350 South Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130.
