Subscription Update Obituary

    John L. MacDonald, 91, of York Towne Terrace, died peacefully on Thursday, January 31, 2013, under the loving care of his family and the staff at Autumn Village Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Worcester. Born in Somerville and raised in West Medford, John was the son of John A. and Mary A. (Soucy) MacDonald and also lived in New Jersey, Aurora, Illinois, and 29 years in Holden.
     He was a graduate of Medford High School and served an apprenticeship with the Boston and Maine Railroad. He worked many years in sales for Thor Power Tool and Panda Electric Sales.
     John honorably served his country as a Specialist Technician First Class with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He enjoyed tinkering around the house and will be remembered for his kind and gentle nature.
     He leaves his beloved wife of 64 years, Regina M. (O’Hearn) MacDonald; four sons, John L. MacDonald of San Antonio, Texas, Paul E. MacDonald and his wife, Mary of Oswego, Illinois, Andrew J. MacDonald and his wife, Joan of Plano, Illinois, Christopher J. MacDonald and his wife, Maureen of Spencer; three granddaughters, Yvonne MacDonald-Hames, Jessica and Kara MacDonald; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher and Tiffany. A brother, Richard J. MacDonald and two sisters, Anne Hendrick and Claire MacDonald predeceased him.
     Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours from 5 to 8 p.m. on Monday, February 4, at the Miles Funeral Home, 1158 Main St., Holden. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Tuesday, February 5, at St. George Church, 38 Brattle St., Worcester.
