Subscription Update Obituary

    Francis V. “Red” Howe, 94, of Worcester died Tuesday, March 12th, 2013 in Holy Trinity Nursing Home. His wife of 61 years, Gertrude H. (O’Leary) Howe died in 2003. He leaves his daughter, Maureen A. Donoghue and her husband, Michael J. of Worcester; three grandchildren and six great grandchildren, Colleen Fahey and her children, Ryan and Abbie Fahey, and her fiancé, James O’Shea and his children, Caitlin and Liam O’Shea; Brenda Seaver and her husband Steve and their children, Eddie and Billy Seaver, Tommy Donoghue and his fiancée, Meagen Mulherin; and several nieces. He was predeceased by a daughter, Sheila M. Howe who died in 2002 and three brothers, Jim, John and George Howe.
     Mr. Howe was born in Worcester, the son of John H. and Nellie (Coffey) Howe. Francis was a member of St. Stephen’s Church and worked at American Steel and Wire Company for 30 years as a wire tester and retired in 1983 from Worcester County Hospital.
     He was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. He had a special way of touching the lives of everyone he met, with his endearing dry wit and ability to tell a story with a twinkle in his eye.
     Red’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to staff and nurses of Holy Trinity Nursing Home for their compassion and care during Red’s time at Holy Trinity.
     His funeral is Thursday, March 14th from O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton Street. Burial will be in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Wednesday, March 13th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 300 Barber Avenue, Worcester, MA 01606.
