Subscription Update Obituary

     Frances M. (MacIntosh) Nockunas, 83, of Leicester died peacefully on June 20th. She lost her beloved husband of 52 years, Albin Nockunas, a member of the Worcester Police Department, in 2000. She leaves her son, Michael T. Nockunas and his wife, Lisa M. Carroll, two grandchildren, Michael Eric and Christina, and dozens of foster children she loved and nurtured throughout the years. Fran and her husband Albin opened their hearts and home to over 31 newborn babies for over 25 years through the Children’s Friend, Inc., who recently honored her.
She also leaves two brothers, John V. MacIntosh and James C. MacIntosh, both of Leicester; two sisters, Lillian J. Gay of North Brookfield and Carolyn A. Harris of Leicester. She was predeceased by her younger brother, Thomas W. (Buddy) MacIntosh, Jr. Fran was born in Boston, the daughter of Thomas and Frances (O’Bryan) MacIntosh.
     Fran was an active member of Christ the King Church, serving as a Eucharistic Minister for many years. She dedicated herself to the law enforcement community as a devoted wife and mother for a combined 74 years of service. She also belonged to the Red Hat Society, the Knights of Lithuania Council 6, and the Daughters of Scotia, Thistle Lodge where she served as Chief Daughter. Her passions included gardening, reading, and having tea with her many friends. Fran was most proud of her Scottish heritage.
     Her funeral will be held on Monday, June 24th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, Worcester, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Christ the King Church, 1052 Pleasant Street, Worcester. Calling hours are Sunday, June 23rd from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Children’s Friend, Inc., 21 Cedar Street, Worcester, MA 01602.
