Subscription Update Obituary

     Daniel F. Leahy, Sr., 74, of Dale St., died Saturday, April 19, 2014 in St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester.

     He leaves his wife of 50 years, Rhea A. (Bercume) Leahy; his son, Daniel F. Leahy and his companion Nancy DiPilato of Brookfield; three daughters, Doreen M. Brooks and her husband Mark of Spencer, Susan J. Mallette and her companion Scott Farmosa of New Braintree and Coleen R. May and her husband Bill of Rochdale; a sister, Sylvia Malone of Worcester; son in law, Michael Mallette of Spencer; godson, Francis Leahy of Leicester; and nine grandchildren: Ryan Brooks and his wife Ashley of N. Brookfield, Nicole Berard and her husband Kevin of Spencer, Alyssa Brooks of Spencer, Samantha Leahy and her husband Chuck of Palm Bay, FL, Joshua, Zachary and Melanie May all of Rochdale, Kayla and Michael Mallette of New Braintree; five great grandchildren: Garrett, Colton, Morgan, Wyatt and Colten; his cousin, Carol; several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Rose Mallette and two brothers, Thomas and Richard Leahy.

     Dan was a supervisor in data processing for Norton Co. in Worcester for 30 years, retiring in 1997.

     Born in Worcester, he was the son of Thomas L. and Loretta I. (Allard) Leahy. He later served his country with the US Air Force. He enjoyed watching college football, civil war movies, candlepin bowling and all of the New England sports teams. He loved spending time with his family, playing cribbage and cards and was once a member of the Norton Co. bowling league.

     The funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 23 from the J.HENRI MORIN & SON FUNERAL HOME, 23 Maple Terr., Spencer with a Mass at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 7 Church St., Spencer. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4 to 7p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Spencer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 147, Spencer, MA 01562.
