Bertha (Huggett) Seed, 94, died Monday, April 16, 2012, in Oakdale Rehabilitation Skilled Nursing Center in West Boylston. She was the widow of Frank E. Seed III (d. 1982) to whom she was married for 40 years. She leaves a sister, Ethel A. Cole of Florida; a brother, Ralph D. Huggett and his wife Helen and a nephew, Deane R. Huggett all of Paxton. Bertha also leaves nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces including Heidi O'Connor, M.D. and her husband Marc of Waltham, and Andrew D. Huggett of San Diego, CA.
Bertha was born in Worcester, daughter of Ethel M. (O'Donnell) and Thomas D. Huggett and was a graduate of Commerce High School. She retired from State Mutual Insurance Co. after 30 years of service. Bertha was an active member of United Congregational Church and volunteered a lot of her time there. She was also a member of the Greendale YMCA Senior's Swim Group and a frequent blood donor for the American Red Cross.
Funeral services at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street were private according to Bertha's request. Burial was in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Bertha's family wishes to thank the staff at Oakdale Rehabilitation Skilled Nursing Center for the wonderful care given to Bertha. Memorial donations may be made to Girls Inc., 125 Providence St., Worcester MA 01604.
