     Ana Maria Alvarado, 97, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 at St. Mary Health Care Center, surrounded by her loving grandchildren.
     Her husband of 40 years, Juan Santiago predeceased her in 1981. She leaves a daughter Irma Leon and her husband Alfredo of St. Cloud, FL; a son, Luis Raul Santiago in Puerto Rico; eight grandchildren, including Marcial Villegas, Alfredo Leon, Jr., Irma Lebron and Ana Leon all of Worcester; and several great and great-great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Bartasar Santiago, and two sisters, Isidre and Estevina.
     Mrs. Alvarado was born in Puerto Rico, the daughter of Bonifacio Alvarado and Marcolina Suarez. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed sewing and cooking. She will be dearly missed.
     The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 3 from CALLAHAN FAY BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 61 Myrtle Street with a Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Peter's Church, 931 Main Street. Burial will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton. Visiting hours are Monday, April 2 from 6-8 PM at the funeral home.
